Kru Vivek Nakarmi
Kru Vivek has been training and competing in the art of Muay Thai (also known as Thai Boxing or Kickboxing) since 2004. Prior to training in Thai Boxing, he trained and competed in San Shou since the age of eight. Kru Vivek has been teaching Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, Mixed Martial Arts, and Gymnastics to both adults and children of all ages since 2006. In 2016, Kru Vivek was a recipient of Washington Region’s 40 under 40 Rising Business and Community Leaders Award.

Together with Kru Vivek, Diana founded Pentagon MMA in 2012. Diana has been training in Muay Thai under Vivek Nakarmi since 2008, when she moved to the DC metro area. Diana has a JD from the University of Michigan School of Law, an M.B.A. from Florida International University, and a B.S. in Marketing from Florida State University. Before joining the Pentagon MMA family, she was an employment litigator at an international law firm in DC for almost five years. Diana now serves as Pentagon MMA’s in-house counsel and office manager, making sure that everything runs smoothly. Kru Vivek and Diana have two beautiful boys and are also parents to Rocky, a very large German Shepherd pup who loves hanging around Pentagon MMA.

Grace practiced Wado Ryu karate for 7 seven years, earning the rank of 1st degree black belt. She is originally from Scottsdale, AZ and has lived in Spokane, WA and outside of Seattle, WA. She received her B.A. in International Relations and Religious Studies from Gonzaga University in Spokane. Grace practices Spanish and Arabic in her spare time and has traveled to 13 different countries. She loves to read fantasy and fiction novels, paint, draw, dance (absolutely any style) and of course, practice martial arts!
Tanachon Yingwittayakun (Kru Chon) is known as the Little Giant of Muay Thai. Fighting since the age of ten years old to put himself through school, Tanachon “Chon”) Yingwittayakhun is a two-time Thailand National Champion with over 100 professional Muay Thai fights. With a Marketing Degree from the prestigious Chiang Mai University, Kru Chon has consulted and been actively involved in the establishment and development of Muay Thai schools all over the world, including Spain, China, Dubai and Norway, as well as top camps in Thailand such as Kaewsamrit, Phuket Muay Thai, Naiharn, Sitmahachon and of course his home gym Kiat Busaba (Lanna Muay Thai). Also a published author, he co-wrote a book on Thai Boxing called “Muay Thai Unleashed.” Kru Chon has a deep passion and incredible patience for training all levels of Muay Thai students, from beginners to professional fighters.

Kru Brooks Miller
Kru Brooks has been involved in the sport of Muay Thai since 1992 and was a founding member of Kumron Vaitayanon’s (Master K) Suriya Sak Muay Thai Fight Team. He is a 3-time champion in 3 different weight classes, and has taken a part in coaching numerous Muay Thai champions. Brooks was the first to promote full rules Muay Thai events in the state of Virginia (D.C. Metro Showdown 3 on February 27, 2008) and is active as a Muay Thai judge & referee. He is also an author, having contributed in the e-book “Muay Thai: the Art of Fighting,” the USMTA’s “Muay Thai Training Guidebook,” and assisted Master K in transcribing his book “Muay Thai, the Art of Eight Limbs.”

Professor Suldbayar "Sugi" Damdin
Coach Nick Agustin
Coach Nick Agustin has been a certified personal trainer since 2011 after transitioning from the corporate world. He is certified under NCCPT, as well as holding an OTF fitness coaching certification under NASM. His Martial Arts training began with Muay Thai in 1998 under Master K. Coach Nick has also been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2008. When he isn’t teaching group classes at Pentagon MMA, he is working with personal training clients and pushing his students to be their best. Coach Nick always believes that “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you!”

Miss Mari is a life-long resident of Arlington, VA and has worked with children since the age of 16. Miss Mari is currently completing her Bachelor of Education (B.ED) in Special Education at Liberty University. She is passionate about applying her teaching experience to build exciting and innovative lessons, academic and art projects, creating a unique and well-rounded After School Program. She fosters a learning environment using creative activities to keep the kids focused, energetic, and enthusiastic about learning. When she’s not working at Pentagon MMA, Miss Mari takes Muay Thai and Women’s Kickboxing classes at Pentagon MMA and has been training for 5 years. As a key member of our After School Program and Camp staff, she works hard every day to make sure our children get the attention and care they need.
Coach Jen Gaines
Coach Jen originally hails from Laurel, Maryland and currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia. She earned her B.S. degree in Wildlife Management, and later received her Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and Policy. She currently works as a Wildlife Biologist for the Environmental Protection Agency. Jen started playing sports at age 9, and has remained active throughout her life. She began training Muay Thai in May 2008 under Kru Vivek Nakarmi and Kru Brooks Miller and has been hooked ever since, so much so that she is a part of the Pentagon MMA Fight Team, with an amateur Muay Thai fight record of 2-0. Physical fitness has always been a very important part of her life, and she looks forward to helping and motivating others so they may achieve their own fitness goals as well. Jen also enjoys fishing, running, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and reading.
Coach Belinda Watson
Coach Belinda is an Arlington native who continually gives back to her community. Since graduating from George Mason University with a degree in Psychology, she has worked with Arlington Public Schools for 20 years and currently helps manage the Extended Day programs across the county.
Coach Belinda has a passion for Muay Thai and has been training in Muay Thai since 2005. She is also Zumba certified and working on additional fitness certifications. Fitness and martial arts are a family activity for her and you can frequently see Coach Belinda training and working out with her husband and daughter at Pentagon MMA.
Coach James Tower
James has been a practitioner and trainer in martial arts for over 20 years. His training experiences include Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis/Eskrima/Kali), Brazilian Jiu jitsu and Wing Chun. As a Muay Thai instructor, his focus is technique and endurance. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the gym and will always motivate people to share his enthusiasm.
Coach Patti Ro
Coach Patti has been training in Muay Thai for almost two years. She is an editor by trade with a Masters in Writing & Rhetoric. She grew up training in Taekwondo from an early age and has a second degree black belt. Coach Patti is a member of the Pentagon MMA Fight Team and has a passion for sports and passing on her knowledge of Muay Thai to her students.
Coach Leah Cobelli
Coach Leah is originally from New York and currently lives in Washington, D.C working for the federal government. She became hooked on Muay Thai in 2013 while living in Vietnam and has since trained and competed in both Thailand and Virginia with the Pentagon MMA Fight Team. She loves combining traditional Muay Thai techniques with modern fitness to make sure her Women’s Fitness Kickboxing students get stronger with every class.
Coach Jerry Cotto
Jerry comes to Pentagon MMA with over 15 years of Martial Arts experience. He served in both the Army and Marine Corps, where he learned Army combatives and Marine Corps Martial Arts. From there, he discovered Sensei Maurice Allan and began training in the Art of Judo. He has studied and competed in Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai. These days, his focus as a martial artist is primarily on competing in Muay Thai and continuing to grow as a grappler.
Coach Nazar has over 12 years experience of training in Mixed Martial Arts. He has competed worldwide in a variety of arts including Judo, BJJ, Pankration, MMA, in countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Croatia, USA.

Coach Elissa David
Coach Elissa has been training in Muay Thai for 3 years at Pentagon MMA. During the day, she teaches English, History, Film, and Philosophy at a local high school. She also loves to read, play soccer, listen to kpop, and enjoy the outdoors whenever she can.
A Washington D.C native, Luis has been working in the Visual Arts industry for nearly a decade. His favorite photo of all time is the famous shot of a victorious Muhammad Ali standing over Sonny Liston in 1965. Luis believes that the Martial Arts community is a hotbed for captivating moments such as this. At Pentagon MMA, Luis aims to document as well as help share the inspirational stories told in our gym in addition to capturing all the memories that we will make on our Martial Arts journey. When the camera is off, Luis is out trying to connect local visual artists and create opportunities for them to hone their skills as well as learn from one another. He also likes to go on long hikes, find the best pizza in DC, watch classic movies, and now he’s a regular face in Muay Thai!
Oliva hails from Nepal and has been training in powerlifting for over 3 years. She has competed in Nepal and is one of the first women to squat 125 kgs in Nepal in her weight class. She is a big fan of squats and loves to promote women in powerlifting whenever she can. Breaking barriers, meeting new students, and working with children make her happy. Be sure to say hi when you see her at the front desk or taking Cage Fitness classes, her favorite at Pentagon MMA.
Professor Jay began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2006 under Master Leo Dalla. He quickly became hooked on the art and was soon training almost daily and competing when possible. Jay has competed in many local and international-level tournaments, including the Pan and World Masters, and eventually rose through the ranks to earn his black belt from Master Dalla in 2016. He is known for being technically proficient with his techniques, especially with the half-guard and deep half-guard. Jay is also recognized for his teaching ability, having taught for many years at local area BJJ schools.
Coach Ed B.
Coach Ed is originally from the island of Guam and currently lives in Arlington. He has served in the military for over 23 years. Ed has been studying various martial arts for approximately 27 years, including Chinese Kempo, Muay Thai, Army Combatives, Marine Corps Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He has been training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for approximately 7 years, receiving his blue belt from Kelly Grissom of Koa Martial Arts, and his purple belt from Alexandre “Soca” Freitas of Soca BJJ. Ed has been training at Pentagon MMA for over 2 years. He enjoys coaching the Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday morning classes, as well as the Women’s Open Mat on Sundays.
Miss Sujina hails from the Land of Mount Everest, Nepal. She has an Associates Degree in Business from Jana Maitri College in Nepal. She loves working with children and teaching them Nepali words. In her free time, she loves watching movies and traveling.
