In light of the new CDC guidance and lifting of Virginia COVID-related restrictions that are expected to take effect May 28, we are updating our COVID-related protocols and procedures effective Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
COVID PROTOCOLS
Masks will no longer be required for students who are fully vaccinated (at least two weeks have passed after second dose for two-dose vaccines, or at least two weeks have passed after first dose for one-dose vaccine). However, we highly recommend that you continue to wear a mask for the time being if you feel comfortable doing so. Pentagon MMA reserves the right to ask for proof and/or confirmation of COVID-19 vaccination from employees and customers and to limit or deny service to unvaccinated individuals, consistent with federal and state law.
Because children under 12 years of age are unable to be vaccinated, masks will continue to be required for all students under the age of 12 (with the exception of no-contact, socially distanced classes as explained below).
Masks will continue to be optional for all students (regardless of age) in classes that are socially distanced. For those who are unvaccinated or too young to be vaccinated, masks are required to be worn at all times while in the facility.
As of June 1, we will no longer be conducting temperature checks. That said, please do not enter the building if you have had COVID or have been exposed to COVID in the last two weeks, or feel ill.
All students should begin entering through the front door only and continue registering for classes through the Pentagon MMA Member app.
While we are now able to increase capacity for each class, we will continue to moderate class capacity to optimize our students’ experience and gradually ease back into “normal” operations. This means that we will need to continue enforcing the late cancellation/no-show policy, with a few modifications.
Effective June 1, our late cancellation (24 hours before class start time) and no-show fee will be reduced to $10 per class. As a courtesy to all students, we will also waive one cancellation/no-show fee per month. Please keep in mind that this policy is a part of your membership terms, and by continuing to attend classes at Pentagon MMA, you agree to this fee being charged to the card on file.
VIRTUAL CLASSES
Beginning Tuesday, June 1, virtual classes for all programs will be discontinued. The last virtual class will take place on Friday, May 28. Please note that the previously recorded classes will continue to be available to all students through the Pentagon MMA Member App. If you are not yet comfortable coming in person, please take advantage of the recorded class sessions or send us an email at info@pentagonmma.com to discuss hold options for your membership.
LITTLE WARRIORS (ages 4-6 yrs)
The current focus for Little Warriors classes will stay on solo based drills, but we will gradually begin incorporating light contact work, obstacle courses, stations, and more diverse drills. This means that masks will be required for all Little Warriors classes moving forward. If you do not feel comfortable with your child doing contact work, please let the instructor know at the beginning of class so we can modify drills for your child accordingly.
YOUNG/TEEN WARRIORS (ages 7-17 yrs)
All Young Warriors and Teen Warriors classes will gradually transition to physical contact, partner drills, and grappling sparring. Masks are required in all Young/Teen Warriors classes, with the exception of those students who are fully vaccinated.
OPEN MAT/OPEN GYM
Open mat and open gym time will be restricted to current students only at the specified time blocks on the class schedule. Please be respectful of others training in the same space, and please sanitize the equipment after your use.
DIGITAL LEARNING CAMP/AFTER SCHOOL/SUMMER CAMP
In addition to the above COVID-related procedural changes, masks are now optional for children while playing outdoors or exercising outdoors. If you prefer that your child continue to wear a mask outdoors, please let our staff know.
For summer camp, we are so excited to announce that we will be able to take the campers on field trips! Summer campers, please keep an eye out for another email in the next couple of weeks with more details on what to expect this summer.
